Music Ministry

 

  • Cantor Program:

In confident dialogue with the assembly, the cantor program offers continuing formation, preparation, flexibility, artistry and musical support as a gift of service to the parish community. Cantors are ministers of music, singing the Psalms and responsorial songs. Divine Mercy cantors combines year-round weekly rehearsal with continuing musical, liturgical and spiritual growth. Parish cantors are also responsible for singing at funerals and weddings. Cantors need to be of high school age or older and have a basic knowledge of music reading.   • Chancel Choir:

The Chancel Choir is open to all adults and young adults that want to serve the Lord singing liturgical sacred choral music. At this time the choir rehearses every Thursday evening, 6:30-7:30 p.m. in the church, September to Pentecost Sunday. During the summer months the choir rehearses on a reduced schedule. The choir sings at different weekend Masses and at different special liturgies during the year, including Christmas, Easter, First Communion and Confirmation. We are always looking for new people to join the choir. Come and join us. We pray, learn more about music singing and growing in faith together!   • Children’s Choir:

The Children’s Choir is a unique experience for children. We sing together, pray together, and learn a repertoire of liturgical sacred music growing in faith with harmony and joy. Children also learn basic aspects of music reading, singing both in a group and as a solo. The Divine Mercy Children’s Choir is open to all children from 2nd to 5th grade.   • Youth Choir:

The Divine Mercy Youth choir  is open to all Middle School and High School students from 6th-12th grade. We sing together, pray together learning a repertoire of liturgical sacred music to sing at our liturgies throughout the year.   • Funeral Choir:

“At the funeral liturgy, the Church gathers with the family and friends of the deceased to give praise and thanks to God for Christ’s victory over sin and death, to commend the deceased to God’s tender mercy and compassion, and to seek strength in the proclamation of the Paschal Mystery. The funeral liturgy, therefore, is an act of worship, and not merely an expression of grief.” from USCCB

The Funeral Choir serves grieving members of our community with the gift of musical support. Members are invited to sing at parish funerals, and usually serve during daytime hours. For more information please contact Valentino Piran at vpiran@divinemercy.cc

  • Instrumentalists:
