“Before I formed you in the womb, I knew you;

before you came to birth, I consecrated you;

I have appointed you as a prophet to the nations.”

- Jeremiah 1:5

A Reason for Hope and Healing

Every year thousands of women lose a child to

miscarriage, sudden infant death, or abortion in our

Archdiocese alone.

The loss of a child is traumatic.  Those who suffer

when the cause is from a “choice” suffer no less than those who lose a child by miscarriage or in infancy or even losing a child as a teen.  Mercy and healing is needed by all.

By extending compassion – whatever the circumstances - the Garden of Mercy will offer hope and healing through providing a place to pray and honor your child.

Our Judeo-Christian tradition understands that life begins at conception.

The Naming Memorial

The Naming Memorial provides a place of healing and a way of dedicating that child to God.

The purpose of the naming of a deceased or unborn child honors the Innocents who for whatever reason have died prior to or shortly after birth.

The Naming Memorial will offer a place for those who have lost a child to remember and seek healing as they mourn their loss.

The Pain of an Empty Womb

We are welcoming and encouraging couples who have not been able to conceive a child to place a rock in the Garden of Mercy.   The pain of not being able to conceive is often held in the silence of the heart of many couples.  There is no symbol that describes a barren womb.  When we found this picture of a crying heart, it seems to capture the heartache couples may be experiencing.

The symbol of a heart and tears can be placed on the rock or you may use  words such as “barren womb” or  “empty womb”.

Please remember, a stone can be placed in the garden in memory of your loved one from the womb to old age.
