Being an Usher provides a wonderful opportunity for an individual or family to become more actively involved in our liturgy and assist with important pieces during Mass! It is also a great way to meet members of the parish. Our Ushers’ responsibilities include directing people to their seats or to the restrooms, asking a family to carry up the gifts, taking up the collection during the Preparation of the Gifts, assisting with the traffic flow and communion lines, handing out bulletins, assisting those with disabilities or special needs, providing help in an emergency, attending to the needs and questions of the worshipers ~ all in a warm and welcoming way. It involves arriving early for Mass, and a bit of tidying up after Mass, and saying “thank you” or “see you next week!” to all of those who have come and worshiped with us. This ministry is open to both men and women, including high-schoolers. Ushers are needed at Sunday Mass and Holy Day Masses.
